Fan-Fiction “The Misapprehension of Bella Swan”

I’m extremely saddened to say that this will be our last Twilight Tuesday fan-fiction recommendation and I just wanted to say that Donna and I have had so much fun this last year bringing you our favorite fan-fiction stories and discussing them on the forums. I will miss this a great deal and I thank each and everyone of you for reading and discussing.

Now onto our last recommendation.

The Misapprehension of Bella Swan

Jen’s thoughts:

The story we are reviewing this week is a brand new story by our favorite fan-fiction author, HunterHunting. As she has shown with Clipped Wings and Inked Armor she is a master of the angstily written word and a magical story teller, has a HUGE potty mouth and writes a lemon like no other author around. And now this goddess of fan-fiction brings us a new genre of story – satire in the form of a sarcastic Bella and buff hockey playing Edward… I’m now certain heaven does exist in the form of this story.

The Misapprehension of Bella Swan starts off with Bella being dragged to an NHL arena to watch her step-brother Emmett play. At said hockey game she meets none other than the green eyed boy wonder of hockey, Edward. In just two chapters HH has you wrapped around her finger and dying to read more.

Here’s what I know so far… Bella has a tongue that will give you whiplash and Edward has a baaaaddddd reputation and the two are drawn together like moths to a flame. Do you really need to know more? This is a must, sit by your email every Wednesday until your email updates that HH has updated kind of story.

Donna’s thoughts:

Of course, you all know that Clipped Wings is one of my absolute FF of all time and you may well know that HH has nearly finished her epic journey of Tatward and his Kitten…. So I was sort of starting to panic a bit at the thought of not having my fix every week (cause HH is that good!!  She updates EVERY week). And to say I was ecstatic when I heard she was starting another story is the understatement of the century! I actually think I might have scared the kids a bit when I was doing my very loud happy dance!

So, even though HH has only two chapters up of MoBS…I begged Jen…Ok, told her we were doing this story for our last review together!  Basically you have your sassy and really wordy Bella and the very gorgeous Hockeyward and they have just met and hit if off…so to speak, but as Jen has said HH has this way of drawing you in and keeping you wanting more… and I am already hooked!!

Do yourself a favour and give this FF a go…Or why not let HH get a few more chapters of MoBS under her belt and start on Clipped Wings….Again!!

The standard disclaimer: If you haven’t read Twilight – WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU??? If you haven’t finished the series then skip this chatter because we might spoil something for you and we definitely don’t want to do that.

We are going to shake up the format a little this week, Guest Designer Jacquie is joining me this week to add her thoughts on this weeks recommendation!

The Story:

This week’s recommendation is Clipped Wings and Inked Armor by Hunterhunting. I don’t remember how I happened upon this story but the instant I read the story summary I was intrigued. She says:

Haunted by her past Bella is broken and alone. Starting over, can she let go of the guilt that consumes her when she meets a beautiful tattoo artist or will his own personal demons destroy them first?

Jen’s Thoughts:

I started reading and Oh My Edward. She had me at Black Hole Sun.

The first chapter had me captivated. Edward is brash. He has some of the best inner monologues I’ve read since Midnight Desire – I love being in Edward’s head. He’s pierced and inked. What more do you need?

Bella is wrecked. I don’t know how else to describe her. She is flat broken. But she’s also freaking awesome. She has an inner snark that is unexpected and hilarious at times. A definite run for Inkward’s money. It’s difficult to say more an not ruin plot surprises, but I love this Bella.

This is one of the most thought out and well written fan-fics I’ve read in a while. It’s also very well paced, the interactions between Bella and Edward are quite believable… very funny at times and Kleenex worthy the next. The supporting cast have a well defined and well written role in the story. And so far the plot is stuck together like fingers and Crazy glue.

It’s been a long time since I’ve read a story that leaves me wanting more so bad at the end of an update that I’ll go back and re-read the entire story chapter but so far every update I’ve done it. HH is only at chapter 11 but the updates are frequent (think by-weekly) and this one is a definite must read.

Oh and Jen don’t forget he Drinks coffee and loves cupcakes….Awwww I melt. Ok no more spoilers.

I love how we see inside Edwards head immediately, I never got that in Twilight! Fan Fiction rules my world and this story jumps to the top of my faves FAST! Can you believe this is her FIRST FanFic story??

She keeps some essential canon in the story in the supporting and main characters, love that, and they are so easy to love! The twists and turns are unexpected and flow so easily together to make this story heartwarming and believable.

How could I forgotten about the cupcakes… maybe I’ll go make some right now.

Summing it up…

Inkward might be the hottest thing since, well… Edward AND he loves cupcakes. This is one story you should definitely try on for size. And if our raving doesn’t get you… see that leather clad pic of Rob up there… throw some tats and steel on him and he is Inkward.
