fan-fiction recommendation: The Fallout by OCDIndeed

The Fallout by OCDIndeed

The Premise:

March 16, 2006, the world the Cullen’s knew…ended. What if Edward never made it back in time, and failed to protect the one human that only mattered to him? Nuclear War? The Cullens? Nope…not a crackfic. Dark & Angsty. NM-AU ~OCDindeed

Now go read the prologue for a better introduction to the story… the prologue is just genius.

Jen’s Thoughts:

This story is what fan-fiction is all about. OCDindeed has taken Stephenie Meyer’s fantastic characters to the next level of greatness. It’s rare for me to read a  fic that I wish was actually a published book. This story on the other hand is one of those.

OCDindeed starts her story after Edward left Bella in the woods, crushed and broken. She weaves a tale of heart break and deception that twists and turns and keeps you hooked for the entire story. This story of a post nuclear war world for humans and vampires alike is a very realistic roller coaster ride.

This story had me hooked from the first sentence of the prologue and I’ll admit to getting tingles a bit at the last sentence.

What will happen to the Cullens, the Volturi, Victoria and most importantly Bella once the events are set in motion to cause a nuclear world war? How will Edward save her? How will the Cullens save him?

This is a MUST read. An absolutely riveting story that is very well written. It will leave you begging for new chapters.

So, like I always say…

This Week’s Story:

Hydraulic Level 5 by Gondolier

The Premise:

Extreme sports addict. Thrill-seeker friends. How could Bella have known when she divorced her childhood sweetheart, he’d become an acclaimed author…and skewer her in fiction? Now she’s out for blood. But as Bella digs deeper, her perceptions shift… all human. ~Gondolier

The Verdict:

So I have to be honest with ya’ll and say that I’m a bit behind on my fan-fiction. A sick kiddo and stamp drawing deadlines have kept me to busy that I’ve been neglecting my beloved fan-fiction. BUT I did get a good start on this one and I have to say it’s fantastic.

The writing is top notch. The story and premise are unique. When I first read the premise I about called shenanigans on Bella being an extreme sports addict but it seems a talented writer can turn a massively clumsy Bella into a white water rapid dare devil.

I have been immensely enjoying the banter and the unique character pairings in this one. Leah is by FAR my favorite and she usually is my least favorite. Give her a little less chip and a little more snark as Gondolier has done and she’s very enjoyable!

Edward is also interesting. He’s not had much play time yet but I like the look at his perspective through his writing… that’s a really nice perk of this story.

Fan Fiction: Parenting Skills 101

So, like I always say…

This Week’s Story:

Parenting Skills 101 by vjgm

The Premise:

Forks High is making the junior and senior classes pair up and be ‘parents’ and take care of a baby doll. All the Cullens are in high school still and are required to take the class. How will Charlie react when Bella and Edward announce they’re pregnant? How will Carlisle and Esme take the big news? ~vjgm

The Verdict:

One word. HILARIOUS. Vjgm has a fantastic sense of humor. I’ve read a few of her stories and even the serious ones always have a bit of a sense of humor.

Now I do have to say I’m honestly a little jealous… fake baby or not, who wouldn’t want a bunch a vampires who don’t sleep around when you have a baby that’s up half the night… how much easier would the first year be then??

And can you even imagine how nuts Alice went with the shopping… oh my.

So the verdict… it’s a super fun must read. It will make you chuckle and it even made me cry at one point. After all the heavy and shmexy stuff that’s been rec’ed lately this is just plain old fun.
