fan-fiction… Burn and Shine by pulsepoint

So, like I always say:

The standard disclaimer: If you haven’t read Twilight WHY NOT??? If you haven’t finished the series then skip this chatter because we might spoil something for you and we definitely don’t want to do that.

This Week’s Story:

Burn and Shine by pulsepoint

The Premise:

At first glance felonious Edward seems like nothing but trouble, but as sheltered college student Bella digs deeper she realizes he is so much more. Possibly too much for her to handle. ExB, AH, rated M for dark/adult themes and profanity. ~ Pulsepoint

Jen’s Thoughts:

At first I was first drawn to this story by the premise. I have for some time now been drawn to stories with a darker Edward character. The complexity of a dark Edward is interesting to read. This story definitely does not disappoint. But what really drew me in was the first chapter. Bella goes on a tirade about overly used literary terms that had me nearly rolling on the floor with her dry sarcasm. She definitely had with the sarcasm.

As I continued to read I found that I was really drawn to see how Edward’s character played out. He’s not only dark but emotionally broken and while I do find that quite difficult to read he’s dark is also peppered with humor and again my favorite sarcasm so I was compelled to read on.

In this fic Bella is quite interesting to read as well and her character really drew me in. What will she do when the bad boy that she knows she shouldn’t be attracted to won’t leave her head? And even worse what is she going to do when Alice’s relationship with his best friend keeps throwing them together.

This one isn’t finished yet but it’s a must read!

Donna’s Thoughts:

I have been reading Fan Fiction for about a year and a half now and in that time I have grown to love nearly every kind of incarnation that Edward has become.
He has been romantic, passionate, bad, homeless, angsty just to name a few….But, when I come across a seriously damaged and broken Edward my heart breaks for him and I kinda find it hard to continue reading, and this too would be the case if it wasn’t for the amazing witty, wonderfully written and brilliant story that Pulsepoint has given us….
We start Burn and Shine believing that Edward is just your typical bad boy out looking for a bit of fun and cruising through life. But, as we go deeper there is so much more to him than a tough attitude and explosive temper. And surprisingly from the very first sentence I was actually captivated by Bella’s POV ( which for me, is rare, I kinda like EPOV best in FF) who, of course finds herself undeniably attracted to this guy who one minute is rescuing her from an ex-boyfriend to the next who is then going out of his way to insult her.  Throw into the mix a best friend who would do anything to protect him, and a very firery Rose who is dripping wth quick wit and a ever present sarcasm and you have the makings of one of the best stories I have read in a very long time.
Pulsepoint hasn’t finished this superb piece of drama just yet. I for one am hanging out for the next chapter and can’t wait to see where she is going to take us on this journey….I totally recommmed you give this one a go. Not only will you enjoy these very likable and appealing charaters you just might end up like me, and have a sore bottom from not moving for 2 hours cause I just had to finish it!!

Read it and let us know what you think. :D
