Fan Fiction: Wide Awake
The standard disclaimer: If you haven’t read Twilight – WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU??? If you haven’t finished the series then skip this chatter because we might spoil something for you and we definitely don’t want to do that.
This week I thought it might be fun to dip into the Holy Grail of fan-fiction these days. Wide Awake by Angstgoddess003. The story that put scores of women back in the kitchen baking cookies and made sleep deprivation hot.
Angstgoddess003 professes at the bottom of chapter 1: “This is my first fanfic.” Oh dear heavens girl. If this is your first fanfic you need to call a publisher RIGHT now because you have a career in writing waiting on you.
Here’s the setup: Bella was victimized be Phil and moves in with Alice and Esme – Renee’s sister. Edward is a chain smoking insomniac who has been adopted by Carlisle and lives next door. When neither one can sleep and run into each other late in the night will they become friends or more?
Well more obviously. Duh.
Without a doubt this is one of the single smartest and all out angstiest stories I’ve ever read. Angstgoddess earns her name, no doubt. Her characterization of both Edward and Bella are brilliant. They aren’t canon and aren’t meant to be but they are brilliantly supported and written. You will be laughing one moment and in tears the next. Don’t read this one without tissues.

I freaking love this fanfic.
it shouldnt even be called a fanfic, its a story all in itself.
its absolutly amazing even if the characters are OFC.

Love.this.story. Period. Almost, ALMOST, as much as Twilight. It took me three tries to get “into” the story, but the third time was a charm. It was the first fanfic I ever read and everything else I read in the fanfic world is measured against WA. AngstGoddess003 is the shiznit.
I had trouble getting into it because it WAS so OOC for Edward and Bella. I still expected them to be Twilight perfect. They are definitely NOT Twilight perfect. Read this story and you will be baking cookies and begging for unicorns. Trust me.
I got a WA teaser on FaceBook yesterday from the Wide Awake Wednesday group I’m in, so the last chapter and epilogue shouldn’t be too far now!

Wide Awake was the very first fan fiction I read when you mentioned “fan fiction” it a few weeks ago and since then, I have read at least 8 more. I am obsessed! Need more! I love them… they are all SO good (Twilighted). xx

I ABSOLUTELY love Wide Awake! I read it 2 times in the computer and like four because i printed it out and everything. Im even translating to spanish the whole thing because some of my friends wants to read it (and im from Argentina). AngstGoddess pretty much owns my complete fucking heart. I admire AND adore the way she writes and how descreptive and real everything in the story is. Yep. She should publish it. I like it even more than Twilight and in my opinion, is better. But maybe thats because i prefer human stories. (:
Im still waiting for the epilogue!
