It’s Bella’s Birthday – TTIC #22
We were pulling up to the house now. Bright light shined from every window on the first two floors. A long line of glowing Japanese lanterns hung from the porch eaves, reflecting a soft radiance on the huge cedars that surrounded the house. Big bowls of flowers – pink roses – lined the wide stairs up to the front doors.
They were all waiting in the huge white living room; when I walked through the door, they greeted me with a loud chorus of “Happy Birthday, Bella!” while I blushed and looked down. Alice, I assumed, had covered every flat surface with pink candles and dozens of crystal bowls filled with hundreds of roses. There was a table with a white cloth draped over it next to Edward’s grand piano, holding a pink birthday cake, more roses, a stack of glass plates and a small pile of silver-wrapped presents.
It was a hundred times worse than I’d imagined.
New Moon opens with Bella’s 18th birthday and Alice in full party mode. Most people dread turning 30 or 40, but Bella dreaded turning 18 – mostly since that meant she was “older” than Edward. For the Cullens, they were excited – the last birthday they had ever “celebrated” was Emmett’s many decades earlier.
For the creative challenge part – create a birthday themed item – you’re welcome to draw inspiration from the party or just go with “birthday”.
For the comment part – tell us if you’ve ever given or been the recipient of a surprise party or let me know if there was a birthday you dreaded. Or simply just let us know what your favorite birthday gift was.

I have had one surprise party – my 16th. I don’t remember all that much about it. I just know it was as surprise. I’m not a huge fan of the surprise party. I like quite dinners instead.
I did get a rockin’ birthday present once though – Chris and I got engaged on my 22 birthday so that was pretty cool. It’s a REALLY long story so I’ll save it for a blog post some time.

Oh, Rebecca this is a good one! My 5th birthday as a pretty traumatic one for me. It was a surprise party and when my Mom and I walked into the party room and everyone yelled “SUPRISE” I started crying, I was so embarrassed and scared. Good times, good times, at least now I can look back on it fondly.

As soon as I saw the challenge Bella’s airplane tickets came to my head. So my card was inspired by the airplane tickets she got from Esme and Carlile and almost didn’t use. My card is located in my SCS gallery here:http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1271249?cat=500&ppuser=102478
I have been the recipient of a surprise party but it wasn’t a b-day it was a farewell from my friends before I moved to the USA. I also surprised a good friend with a party but not a b-day either. As for my favorite gift I can’t think of one, WOW! that’s sad! And so far I haven’t dreaded any birthday but who knows I might dread my 40th or 50th.
This was my first TT challenge ever. I hope I did it right.

I just finished up my project… I originally thought I was going to make a card, but it ended up as a scrapbook page. On my blog, I posted a few comments about a memorable surprise birthday party I threw for my mom. She LOVED it and has never been so surprised in all her life!

What a fun challenge!! Thanks to Margie for getting me hooked!
I’ve never had or given a surprise party. I’ve thought about throwing one for hubby a few times, but never started planning it soon enough!
hugs…

This was my first challenge that I have participated in. I love this site. Thanks for letting me combine my 2 loves, card making and Twilight.
